Buffy the vampire slayer season 2 disc 2
this show is like video qualudes. It soothes and helps me get some work done. Why? It doesn't make you think. It just happens , you can sleep thru half an episode, its just boring and silly and pretty great. I hear that it just gets better too, so i'm looking forward to that. Thanks Joss Whedon.
Crash : or could i get a couple more actors in this movie please?
For fucks sake who isn't in this movie? This movie is basicly 5 minute clips of racism, and how that racism leads to more racism. How somebodys stupid hatred pushes into someone elses life and how that carries over into someone elses. So basicly this movie shows wh
at happens after you're an asshole to someone and how it effects everyone. It's kinda interesting. You know from jumpstreet that some shit is gonna go down. And you're just kinda waiting for it to happen. Everyone hates everyone, an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind and all that shit, but you see how one person makes a racist comment then that person makes one at the next person then the next and finally someone breaks down and kills someone.

so after finishing the book of this by walter tevis, which was fantastic, i went and rewatched this movie. and boy was i disappointed. The book was great, i even edited the entry in wikipedia because whomever wrote it said the book was exactly like the movie. The movie is nothing like the book. Tom Cruises character doesn't exist in the book. I didn't miss him one bit. The whole book focused on what it was like to be great and then slowly slid into mediocraty. Then fight you're way back to the top. The movie was a cheesy way to get two stars together in the same movie. Scorsesse did what he could with it, and made it watchable, but having read the book it ruined the movie for me. It could have been so much more. Now granted jackie gleason wasn't dead when they made this but he died the next year, but it would have been cool to see him play Minnesota Fats and go with all that stuff. I don't understand why they didn't just stick with the story. I don't know why it bothers me so much. This is the second book of tevis' that i have read the first being the man who fell to earth. And both of them have been made into movies that i like but after reading the book they could have been so much more. Both movies have been made by people who think alot about themselves, and that might have something to do with it. I would like to read the Hustler now, but I'm afraid if i do that i won't like the movie anymore either. shitty.

so i watched this with the roger ebert commentary and its a good thing that i did. Ususally i don't watch movies for the first time with commentary but i did with this one, and boy am i glad i did. This was a slow movie. So having ebert there to explain why i should keep watching even though i was bored helped. Ozu's movies are beautiful and comparing them to Jaques Tati isn't that far out of line. Or that movie last days, its kinda slow moving and beautiful. I had big things in mind for last days though, and i had nothing in mind for this so i enjoyed it more.

Some Kind of wonderful
Continueing my 80's adventures. John Hughes presents some kind of wonderful. I like eric stoltz in this and i wish he had been in more movies in the eighties. It would have been intersting to see him in BTTF. I wonder if the films still exsist. Lea T is ok, but the overall movie is alright. Casey Jones as a skinhead is pretty awesome, he's probably the best part of the movie.

wow, this is a movie full of emotion and hatred. Its amazingly captured and put to film. Well acted, by up and coming actors. Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Laurence, etc. I can't imagine what this movie was like when it came out. Mind bending i'm sure.
3 out of 5 for a lot of hatred.
Last Days
WTF whats the big deal about this movie. Its fucking terrible. so boring, why bother. It's supposed to be about kurt kobians last days. but its so fucking boring that i would say its about some dude who dresses like kurt kobain and wanders around a house while people are looking for him. WTF

Disc three of the brat pack collection is pretty good. I have always like this movie, and it is funnier now that i can look back and laugh, and admit that i was a bigger dork than even anthony michael hall in this movie. but now that that's out of the way fearless reader, let's move on. The fact that somebody got highschool some what close to right. this and fast times are pretty damn funny. John hughes makes the best movies. It would be interesting to see what he would make these days. Oh wait i looked it up on IMDB and he made fuckin maid in manhattan give me a break, i wish he would make a good movie. The fact that rudy the janitor is the one gettig married to molly ringwald's sister is hillarious.

Once upon a time in Mexico
i didn't see this movie in the theater. i had been waiting and waiting for it to come out and it came out while i was in japan, and when i rented it, it didn't live up to my expectations. but in retrospect its pretty damn good. i mean i expected a lot out of this movie. Johnny Depp is awesome in this movie, dafoe is good, blades is excelent as the retired fbi agent, salma hayek is always super hot, and eva whatsherfuck is really hot too. so good job robert rod, on this movie, mickey rourke is funny in his part you can see why you picked him to play marv.

at least these days i have a job that i can call in snowed in. this damn snow made my plans get cancled which i am less than excited about. reservations cancled. bullshit. now my date for the evening probably isn't going to be able to go with me on the rescheduled day which sucks. enough whining for one night jeez here's a picture to cheer you up casey v kicking the shit out of her sister. covered in mud
thanks casey.
Sideways
I dont know how much i would have liked this movie if Garrett hadn't told me it's just like robbie and barskey going on vaca together. With that in mind this movie is freakin hillarious. It's a smart movie that actually did well in the theaters and word of mouth thru rentals. kinda the same era time frame as i *heart* huckabees, Closer, and garden state. they were very good and all very different but they have a tone that i think will be remembered as this era's like john hughes movies in the 80's. I wonder if anyone in common worked on all those? hmm something for me to do somenight when i'm bored. if you dont know the story its two dudes going out for a last hurrah before one gets married.

Equilibrium
Geez, its snowing and what do i do? watch a bunch of movies. This movie rules, will hadn't seen it, so i introduced it to him, like everyone else, he really liked it. Thats cuz it fuckin rules. The part where he throws the extra clips down the hall and then shoots his way thru all the people and get's them half way thru, and the fight with whats his name. that's pretty sweet too.
I can't wait for ultra violet to come out.

Desperado
This movie is one of the first movies i really loved. Its kind of a bitter pill to swallow. On one hand i still like it but on the other hand i put it on such a high pedistal that each time i watch it its less and less good. Not like 400 blows which is better each time i watch it. Look at that, I might just be the first person to ever compare desperado to 400 blows. French new wave meets ex-indy action movie. jean-pierre laud vs antonio banderas. funny. anyway i do still like this movie but it has lost some of its luster. It has some charms but most of them are that this movie opened my eyes to what cinema could do. Thanks Robert Rodreguez.

Wierd Science
Yes i have been on a 80's kick lately. It started with st. elmos fire then i wanted to see all my old favorites again. It had been probably ten years since i had seen most of these. Katie Paull really liked these and i had a crush on her so i watched them all. Noy that was a long time ago. This is probably one of my favorites. Because its so damn funny. The scene in the bar is probably my favorite. That and every scene with Chet. Rob really made me appreciate this movie by quoting it non-stop thru high school. Le Samourai
This movie is probably the most perfect movie i have ever seen. do yourself a favor and see this movie as soon as possible. i will be renting more jean pierre melville movies as soon as possible. So this movie is so good because of the acting and the whole damn thing just fucking rules. its about a lone assasin in france in the sixties. Jarmush and John Woo both stole this movie to make thiers, jarmush to make ghost dog, and woo to make killers its kind of a combination of both of them and yet its better. This is a great damn movie.

i copied this from my favorite blog (vancouver canucks op-ed)
Blogger Quote of the Day.
From the Blog I'm Sorry I Had to Kill That Guy:
"The trade I have in mind? Oh, how about a Marcus Naslund [sic], just to go absolutely wild? I mean, yes, he’s kind of the soul of the team but therin lies the problem. For Naslund I expect you might be able to pick up an up-and-coming marquee player plus some solid second or third liner. It’s not like he’s planning on sticking around here much longer anyway. What are they waiting for? Sure, he scores goals but there are a few guys there who could pick up the slack."
An "up-and-coming" player and a third liner??? For Markus Naslund?
Frankly, for Naslund we expect to pick up the entire Columbus Blue Jackets. And their wives. And maybe a little extra cash.
(In other words: don't trade Naslund. Great blog name, though.)

this sounds like a living turd, but i will probably still watch it if its real. god its midnight and the manager of this pub told me they close at midnight so i could get on with my work, but the workers here inform me that they actually close at 1:00 and call her funny names at the notion that she doesn't know the time her own pub closes how funny is that. not that funny if you have been working since 3:00pm and you're looking at working until 4-5 in the morning and then woken up at 8:00 to explain the changes you made in their system.

why am i coping other people? because i think it interesting
Both political parties and the media are far to the right of the general population on a whole host of issues. And the population is just disorganized, atomized... And that's why the media and campaigns keep away from (political) issues. They know that on issues, they're going to lose people. So therefore you have... George Bush... this pampered kid who came from a rich family and went to prep school and an elite university. And you have to present him as an ordinary guy who makes grammatical errors, which I'm sure he's trained to make--he didn't talk that way at Yale--and a fake Texas twang, and he's off to his ranch to cut brush or something. It's like a toothpaste ad. And I think a lot of people know it.Link

Doug Rushkoff's final Thought Virus from his new book
Douglas Rushkoff's new book, "Get Back In The Box: Innovation from the Inside Out," will hit bookstores tomorrow. On his blog, Doug has posted his final "Thought Virus" from the book. From the excerpt:As my lectures bring me from industry to industry, I find myself amazed by just how little fun most people are having. Whether separated from one another by policy, competition, or cubicle, the last thing that seems to occur to people is to have fun together—when it should be the first priority. Instead, managers feel obligated to reign over employees; executives think they must hoodwink their shareholders; sales believe they must strong-arm their clients; and marketers assume they must manipulate the consumer. All for the life-or-death stakes of the next quarterly report...Link
Instead of relentlessly pursuing survival even after our survival needs are met, we must learn how to do things because they fulfill us— because they are, in a word, fun. Fun is not a distraction from work or a drain on our revenue; it is the very source of both our inspiration and our value. A genuine sense of play ignites our creativity, eases communication, promotes goodwill and engenders loyalty, yet we tend to shun it as detrimental to the seriousness with which we think we need to approach our businesses and careers.
If we can switch our orientation to fun, and see it not as an anarchic threat that needs to be quelled but rather as the core motivator and source of meaning for all human thought and behavior beyond basic survival, we will enable ourselves to reach levels of success that were previously unimaginable. Our very definition of success transcends survivalist notions such as cash reserves, time remaining, or personal safety, into the realms of self-worth, meaning, connection to others, and greater purpose. Plus, it’s better business.

Night Watch: Nochnoy dozor
Holy Shit! Why isn't this movie out in the states. This is one of the best movies i have seen in a long time. I had to download it to watch it, which i never do because i like to support the people that make the movies that i like. But if i cant't buy it i will get it some how. This is how. anyway this movie kicks ass hardcore i can't wait to see it in a theater and buy the dvd. and see the sequels which hopefully will get made. do you hear me. put this out in the USA so i can spend my money on it, so that the people that made it will make more money so that they will make a sequel.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Ottawa Senators
So the canucks were playing the number one team in the league last night. I left a work party with free booze to walk to a sports bar 14 blocks away in 20 degree's weather to pay 4.00 for a pint of pabst at the bar that has the hockey package. But it was all worth it so see the canucks win a hard fought grinder against ottawa. Daniel Sedins Shooot out goal was awesome! The way bertuzzi pushed that puck in it was kick ass! Hasek got pwned. Sorry Auld was on top of things. But the real heros in this game was the defensive squad. holding ottawa to about six shots a period for the second two and only nine in the first. ottawas first goal was good and it was a shorty by goddamn peter schafer that SOB. don't think i've forgotten what he did on the canucks! but the second one was a garbage goal deflecting off like three people and in over aulds shoulder. nazzys goal was awesome in a powerplay right of the bat. and a big thanks to the dominator for being so damn cocky and comnig out so far so that daniel could get the second marker in the first. and a big FU to hasek for slide tackeling bertuzzi to draw a goalie interfernce call with 20 seconds to go in OT. So good job canucks! and a big im jelous to kaisa and jacob for getting to actually go to this game.

Songwriter
so i bumped into this movie on accident while doing research on willie nelson. It's not brilliant. But it is fun. Willie Nelson and Kris Kristopherson in the same movie. Playing characatures of themselves. Willie Nelson at one point wears a leather "members only" jacket. It's a fun movie. willie and kris both are very charismatic and fun to watch run through this movie. " i bet your living room still looks like elvis's wedding reception" is a good quote.

The knife scene is probably my favorite i laugh really hard everytime i see it. Seriously this is a great movie. Shaolin Soccer is a great movie too by the same guy. New York Dolls: All Dolled Up
This movie played at work and it was free, so i worked late until it started. I fell asleep 30 minutes into it and slept thru about fifteen minutes of this movie. I really didn't think all that much of it. The things that i wanted to see about NY dolls were johnny thunders and the later malcolm mclaren years, which this movie didn't talk about at all. It was basicly film from thier first three years. If you're a purist you'd probably love it, but if you're a mild fan meh, pass on it. I wish i had.

ok, so i'm a dork. It's true. I loved this cartoon growing up, this and beavis and butthead were the reasons to watch liquid television. So when i heard that they were going to make a movie about it, i was stoked. When i heard it was going to be live action i thought give me a break. I have been seeing the trailers for it and i thought it looked pretty crappy. But there is one good thing about the movie coming out... they put out the whole series and all the liquid tv shorts in one big box set! Finally. So killer! The movie was lame and thier was a bunch of exposition. Couldn't they have got some foriegn director to direct it and make it cool? Oh wait it was made by mtv films. never mind. wait a sec, they made napolean dynamite. They took a chance with that, why not make An esoteric AF movie like the cartoons? Get some french fucker that thinks he's smarter than everyone else to make it. It would be really cool. Even maybe a french canidien. what ever, im watching the cartoons right now and they're way cooler.
