arrg davey havoc is a sissy now?

WTF this is the davey havoc i am used to. i little too much makeup and a devil-lock . not to bad, i can deal with that but compared to him now where he looks like a girl? get it over with DH wear a dress and prance around like a fairy... oh wait a minute you already do that. fuuuck.

mark's comment on the post before was right.

remember when korn was cool?

on the soapbox for a minute.

Why is it that cool bands have to turn shitty? It's almost fucking manifest destiny for a band to march from being rad

to being total fucking ass-bag tools of medocrity. I will never forget when I first saw this band. They reawakened my sense of what music could be. It wasn't earth shattereing, it wasn't really ground-breaking. It was just good music. I still get goose bumps when i listen to "god called in sick today" on headphones when no one else is around.

does this make me a goober? yeah kinda, i still get goosebumps sometimes when i hear "gettin it" too. which is super lame, anyway...

So i go and see AFI in the summer of '99 because a girl that i liked really wanted to go, and since i liked her i went with her and a group of her friends. Well most of the shows i had been to before this and been fairly big rock shows not small venue punk shows, so i didn't really know what i was getting into but they were top fucking notch even though it was about a billion degrees in the pine st theater that night. and since i wasn't 21 yet i couldn't go to the bar and get a beer (it was summer of 99).

Them playing so well and with smiles on their face and the packed crowd loving it, it was awesome, and i have seen few shows better than that show. Queensryche last winter was really good but in a very different way.

Anyway AFI quickly became my favorite band, the only problem was i couldn't find any of thier cd's. i bought one at the show, but they were little known back then, and everyday music didn't have anything by them nor did music millenium, or any of the other used cd stores i used to haunt back in those days before broadband. So i started trying to find them everywhere with no luck, until i went into 2nd Avenue records where i found the music mecca i still go to nowadays, when i want a cd i go there to get it because they have fucking everything i want, a killer metal section and a killer rap section. they know who andre nickatina is and they know who sonata arctica and rhapsody are too. anyway they had all the afi cd's i could afford as well as 7" 's too which is cool.

So after i stocked up on AFI cd's and stickers and patches to deck my shit out with. about 8 months later i started to notice kids coming into the burgerville i worked at wearing afi shirts... funny i though, those kids must be the cool kids or something, then i started noticing more and more, and they released a new record that hardley had any emotion on it at all. then they signed to a major label. and today when i went to their website for no real reason other than i saw they had a new album out. their site is all MTV this and myspace that. WTF. This was my first firsthand experience with a band really letting me down. Not like megadeth who kinda faded away and are now slowly starting to come back, or anthrax who got a new singer who is good, but it's not he same. These guys just totally changed thier style got popular and cater to the fucking hot topic kids. yuck. it makes me sick. they were on the shortlist of things to get tatooed when i was thinking about getting one back then. Thanks for listening to my rant about bands changing and selling out.

ok so look at them in the first one. their first album was a riff on reservior dogs. kinda cool, the album was answer that and stay fashionable which is a quote from Spinal Tap which is rad. what ever. then you have the second picture which is from thier website. what a bunch of fucking bullshit, look at davey havoc (2nd) he looks like a fucking girl with all the makeup and manicured nails what a fucker.

quick and the dead

This movie is pretty good. i remember it being enjoyable but it still holds up as being a fun entertaining western movie. Basicly there is a conest in this town where you have to quick draw your opponent and kill them and the last person standing gets alot of money.

warren ellis rules.

1. Desmond Dekker's dead. These are
the days where I really hope I'm
right and there's no afterlife;
otherwise, poor old Desmond is
being slapped around right now for
covering "You Can Get It If You
Really Want." Jimmy bloody Cliff.
Music for people who don't actually
like music. I need to dig out my
copy of "Israelites" when I get
home. Now that was the good stuff.

2. Outlines just kill a story for me,
because there's no blood in them.
Heavily plotty stuff just reads to
me like a Tom Clancy book -- all
event, no character or idea. Hell,
Clancy can't even follow up on his
own ideas. There's a bit in one of
the later Jack Ryan books -- and
you're damn right I read them all,
those things sold in the multimillions
and were acting on the heads of a
mass audience like no-one since
Stephen King -- where a general
says to Ryan, "we will give them
HYPERWAR." And I said, fuck yeah,
show me the HYPERWAR, you
funny-looking little man. No
fucking sign of it. No discussion, no
theory, no evidence aside from a
single UAV and some micromunitions.
If you promise me HYPERWAR, I want
to fucking learn about it. But that
might have slowed down the
relentless this-happens-then-that-
happens-then-this-other-thing-
happens. Prick. Bad writer. All
those books read like 1000-page
synopses. Which is, I suspect,
their charm. You have to keep
turning the page because there is
literally nothing else to do.

dirty harry

I have never seen this movie so i decided to get it from netflix, it's pretty cliched and boring by todays standards. i curious to see what the rest are like. having never watched this as a kid, i don't have the fond memories that might make this movie watchable.

ps i relize the pic is from the nintendo game, i thought it was funny

Will Smith - Lost and Found (2005)

When i heard that the fresh prince had put out another album i didn't really care, i went and dug up my copy of he's the dj i'm the rapper. But when i finished downloading it, i gave it a listen prepared to dismiss it quickly. But to my suprise i liked it quite a bit. (Does this make it good? fuck no. My favorite author is Robert B. Parker. see spenser if you don't know.) But i listened to it alot and waited until it was released on CD (yes i'm that cool that i dl music weeks before it comes out) and bought it because i wanted to support ol will (not that mr. mib needs it) I really liked the fact that he speaks his mind and sticks up for himself. not with whiney why are you picking on me lyrics or i'll kill you lyrics, but with confident i've been rapping for 25 years and ill rap circles around you. He has always been a witty rapper and that's why i liked him in the first place and this release seems to be going back to those roots. the song on "he's the dj im the rapper" about him being addicted to video games was hillarious and now topical with all the WoW stuff going on these days.

anyway over all this album is nice, and quite enjoyable. good job will.

boondock Saints (1999)

There has been a lot of things said about this movie. Most of them have to do with Troy Duffy and his metoric rise and fall from fame. But all that falls along the wayside when you watch the movie. At least it should. The movie is a great indy but i don't think that had it been made with a big budget and star cast, it would have been so great. things get watered down when big studios and big budgets get involved. Every time i go to the theater i see a comercial for this movie because they are rereleaseing it on dvd and it's gonna be in the theater for one night. i bet asshole mr. duffy feels some kind of retrobution for that. whatever. have seen this movie many times but i don't think i actually watched it. because there is all sorts of shit i don't remember, which is cool i suppose. anyway i like this movie alot it's a half step above the average mob/ vigilante movie. most of it has to do with the writing, and raw feel of the movie, which comes with a low budget, which takes us back to my first point that I think that low budget and no distribution helped this movie.

French Connection (1971)

This movie is famous for it's car chase, but it's the slow burn story that makes this movie so watchable. The acting is good too. Roy Schieder and Gene Hackman are great. William freidkin has made some damn good movies mainly this and the exorcist, the gritty realism, acting and sweet car chase are what make this movie fun to watch 35 years later.

First off, i haven't read the book, so don't get pissy with me for not being nit picky. I enjoyed this movie. It was entertaining. They cast french people in french roles, english in english and americans in american roles and they made for a good cast of actors. Jean Reno, Audrey Tautua (amile), sir ian mclean, tom hanks, They were really good, and that's what makes this a good movie. Also i liked how they showed hank's character thinking. I don't think i had seen a better graphical representation of thinking in a movie before. thought it was great. The story was interesting speculation on relilgion. nothing ground breaking but a good summer movie. oh yeah and daniel craig looks fucking awesome as Bond. can't wait till november to see Casino Royale. It's gonna be good.

i'm quite embaressed about the whole thing really...

The hippies won the amazing racE! yeah!!! I started watching this show with my mom and got hooked on it, we watch it every thursday (she tapes it) and at first i hated the hippies but as the compition narrowed i realised they didn't give a shit they were just stoked to get to travel the world for free. they didn't take them selves or anything seriously. and they made fun of all the other pretty people on the show. so i am glad they won. and i'm embarrased about even caring.

what a bunch of fucking assholes

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Sharks fans loudly booed the Canadian national anthem Sunday night before Game 5 of their team's second-round playoff series with the Edmonton Oilers.

The vociferous booing started from the opening notes of singer Annmarie Martin's rendition of "O Canada." While other fans attempted to drown it out by singing along, the boos were audible until the final notes.

Pregame anthem booing was a hot-button issue in sports shortly after the beginning of the war in Iraq, with fans in Chicago's Wrigley Field, Montreal's Bell Centre and other arenas booing their neighbors' anthem from 2002-04.

There was no apparent political motive for the booing in San Jose -- just a questionable expression of the fans' dislike of the Oilers, who won the last two games in Edmonton to tie the series at two games apiece.

The Shark Tank fans didn't boo "O Canada" before the first two games, and fans in Edmonton didn't boo "The Star-Spangled Banner" last week.

One thing i miss about vancouver.

Disc Jockey. Remeber that store (mark) over by lamonts. Oh yes a bit of 'couv history for those of you who care. As i was buying my ticket for the slayer show My caffine riddled brain somehow remembered that disc Jockey used to have a ticket master in it. Then i got to thinking about how that (for a while) was my cd mecca. They had a lot of good overpriced shit. I got my circle jerks cd there, also the first sick of it all cd which is impossible to find, also reservior dogs soundtrack. oh yeah. they had a great discount tape section too where i got the awesome (debateable) rainbow album final vinyl.

amazingly enough if you google disc jockey cd store there are about a gajillion links.

from thier faq.
Q: Why do you play the explicit versions of songs?

This is a tough one. After much thought and internal debate, we decided to remain true to our overall philosophy: to objectively convey the original musical intent of each song. As a result, the musician-analysts in the Music Genome Project work from the originally released version of every song, regardless of content that may be objectionable to certain listeners.

this is a great theory but i listend to my ice cube channel and alot of the songs were edited versions. hmm wierd.

overall though this is fantastic!

Now i usually don't go in for things like this..

Barbarella (1968)

This movie is super rad. Jane Fonda is super hot and she fucks everything that moves in this movie. The 60's scifi sets are rad, and the music is super killer. The bad guys name is Duran Duran, which is fucking hillarious. All the super cheesy 60's camp is awesome. It is a super fun movie, just campy fun.

Escape From L.A.

I wish i could escape from this movie. Every once in a while i will revist a movie that i think i should like, but i don't. This is one of them, ill go back and watch it after i have watched the first one and wish it was as good as that one. its not. Not to say its a terrible movie but i wish that John Carpenter and Kurt Russel would have put theier energies into making a new movie instead of rehashing this turd. oh well, i don't want to be a arm chair director. The specail effect look worse than the original too, but i'm sure they cost a fraction of the first one too, at least i hope so.

Escape from New York

This movie fucking rules. It's part of the other holy trilogy the first being star wars. When barksey was talking about this movie yesterday he was talking about a part of it i didn't remember so i decided to re watch it today. it fucking rules!!! If you don't know the story it's pretty basic. New York has been turned into one big prison, and the presidents plane goes down into NY so the government has to get a convict to get him out and who do they choose but motherfuckin snake pliskin himself. but guess what it's not that easy. It never is. Kurt russel is the shit, as is Ernest Borgnine, lee van cleef, Donald Pleasance, Isaac Hayes, Harry Dean Stanton, and Adreane Barbeau.

4.6 out 5 taco sauce packets

i like the picture because it's the laserdisc cover, and im a dork. yeah believe it or not.

A game of errors.

Tonights game of San Jose vs Edmonton was really good. i thouht edmonton was all but done for but a toskala error turned it all around for edmonton as the momentum swung like london in '63. San Jose was up 3-1 and almost made it 4-1 but for Chris Pronger saving Rolosons bacon. The Peca went down and converted a big mistake by toskala. after that Samsonov tied it up with 4 and a half to go. and it was all oil after that. Smith, Hemsky, and Stoll all scored after that to make it 6-3 Oil. Wow. now the series is tied up 2-2 and they're heading back to the shark tank for the next game. It's gonna be a doosey.

queensryche guitar is cool

Firefly is the best Sci-fi Tv Show. Ever.

Yes that's right i said it. It's better than the Tripods, Red Dwarf, and Quantum Leap. All tv shows that are known to be fantastic. The only thing that comes close is the new Dr. Who. which is really good. If you haven't seen firefly go see it. Serenity was good but the show is better. Everyone says that the sopranos is the best of ganster stories and i think that this is the sopranos of sci-fi. not that its has much gangster stuff, but that it is quality, above and beyond. it's too bad that serenity didn't make more money in the theater because it would have been great to have the tv show restarted. but it wasn't meant to be, so i have to live with what i got, and that's pretty damn good.

Sunday morning shoot-out (disc 1)

I get up early on sundays to watch this show. It is the only tv show that i make time to watch. It is really good. Two producers talk about movies. They have a guest star on each episode, and they get good people. on disc one they have clint eastwood, sly stalone, danny devito, kevin costner, and kevin spacey. What i like the most about this show is that they ask interesting questions to the stars and speak up. They use their own language and don't appologize for it. I love it. i will be getting the rest of this series. it is very entertaining. thanks guys.

Long Good Friday (1979)

This is hands down one of the best movies ever. Top three gangster movies ever. This movie is definately in my top five favorite movies. what are those movies you ask. ok.

Top Three Ganster Movies

1. Godfather 1&2
So technically this is two movies but they fit so well together and they have been edited together as one big movie for tv before, this is the one that others all get judged by. Al Pacino, Marlin Brando, Robert Duvall, Robert DiNero, James Caan, just amazing performances. So much classic shit, the horse head, the quotes. The best.

2. Scarface
Again with pacino but this time he plays a cuban working his way up from nothing, in 80's Florida. Lots of Yejo, cutting, and killing. Rebbbennnggga! This movie from start to finish is fucking kick ass. I just don't understand how some people don't like it. yeah i'm looking at you garrett.

3. And this brings The Long Good Friday.
Until i saw this movie I thought Bob Hoskins was a joke. The heel in Roger Rabbit or you know the guy in heart condition. (which rules btw) Anyway this movie reinvigorated the british gangster genre with good reason it is fucking killer in one day this guy mob empire crumbles down around him with out him knowing why or who. its great. Hatchet Harry is in it alot, so is brick top for about 2 seconds.

my top five?

1. 400 Blows
2. Star Wars
3. The Long Good Friday
4. Karate Kid
5. The Kurt Russel / John Carpenter Holy Trilogy
a. The Thing
b. Escape From New York
c. Big Trouble in Little China

The Long Good Friday rules, go rent it this weekend. You'll thank me.

This album gets better each time i listen to it

and it was good the first time. It's not for everyone but if your into some story in your metal its fucking fantastic. each member of the band is a different character in the story, so there is "falconer" guy who kinda sings like the singer in falconer. the operatic chick who sings like maybe blind guardian, and the black metal guy. and all together its fucking rad.

i went and saw them live a few years back and got this cd there i thought it was so rad, which is kinda unusual. not me buying something at a concert, but liking a band at a concert and buying thier shit.

If they quit doing studies like this they could cure cancer

Clive Thompson's latest Wired News column deals with "bosses" -- the level-ending hard-to-beat adversaries in video-games, and why it's so damned satisfying to kill one:

And the curious sense of satisfaction that comes from a boss battle. They're among the most cherished tropes in gaming: Get a bunch of gamers together to talk about adventure games or action titles, and sure -- everyone will praise the wonderful characters, the superb graphics, the intriguing narrative. But it's the boss battles that leave scars on their souls. They wind up sounding like grizzled war veterans, reminiscing wild-eyed about facing The Flood in Halo, six-armed Goro in Mortal Kombat or even Bowser in Super Mario Bros. Bosses dominate the psychic landscape of games...
It's like bosses are the SATs of the game world: "It's a culmination," Byron notes. "It's not asking you to suddenly learn new skills. It's asking you to remember everything you've learned." You're aiming for that "aha" moment when, desperate for some way to topple the boss, you suddenly hit upon a clever new way to apply your powers -- and the insurmountable becomes manageable.
That's one of the best feelings ever -- and it's also one we rarely get in everyday life. The enemies we face in our contemporary world are so much more ambiguous and internal, and half the time it's ourselves. We try to find a meaningful job, to hack through a bad relationship, to blunder through the red tape of money and taxes. Even our modern literature of struggle has been blunted. The Greeks and Romans imagined their lives through metaphors of heroes facing down arcane monsters; we read The Corrections or Indecision or A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

Canucks Sign 2005 1st Round Draft Pick Luc Bourdon
Thu. May 4, 2006

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have signed 2005 first round draft pick, defenceman Luc Bourdon. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bourdon, 19, has signed his first pro contract after being drafted 10th overall by Vancouver in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2, 211 pound defenceman split the 2005-06 season between the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, recording 20 points (2-18-20) and 54 penalty minutes in 20 games played with Val-d’Or and eight points (1-7-8) and eight penalty minutes in ten games played with Moncton. As a member of the Wildcats, Bourdon is currently vying for the President’s Cup in the QMJHL final and will play at the Memorial Cup, which is hosted by Moncton this season.

The native of Shippagan, New Brunswick has also spent time with the Canadian National team Development Program. Bourdon was named to the 2006 World Junior Championship All-Star Team after winning a Gold Medal with Team Canada at the tournament in Vancouver. He also won a Silver Medal and was named top defenceman at the World Under-18 Championship in 2005 and a Gold Medal in 2004.

Is it just me or had nonis just kinda ridden the waves this year and not done much, ok so im a fat nerd from portland that doesn't know shit about the doings of a NHL GM but come on Eric Wienrich? Kieth Carney? Bottom of the Barrel? I'm sure glad he got bourdon signed. Good job mr. Nonis. I just wish you were Brian Burke. But your not, and if i really didn't like it i could go be a ducks fan i guess.

Ducks Drop A Goose Egg On The Divemobile

Jose Theodore's mullet in critical condition after being scorched by goal light!

(5/9/06) Hockey fans across North America tuned into Game One of the NHL Western Semifinals last night, expecting to see a hockey game.

What they got, however, was the baptism scene from The Godfather, with the Ducks playing the part of the Corleone Family, and the Dives playing the part of... a lot of dead guys. Oh, and coincidentally, the part of Michael Corleone was played by none other than Teemu Selanne, who treated his former team the way Patrick Roy treats a mouthy toaster.

Selanne was sick, notching a goal and two assists. For those of us who last saw him meandering lackadaisically around the bottle-littered ice at the Pepsi Center, last night was mind-boggling. One must come to the conclusion that Selanne, like many players who have passed through Denver, simply did not want to play like this for Colorado and their rotten, classless, bottle throwing Avsmonkey fans.

A few weeks before the playoffs started, 950 AM blockhead Marc Moser hosted a show in which numerous Avsmonkeys called in and admitted to exactly what this site has been saying for years: that Avalanche fans are shameless, frontrunning bandwagoners. The Divemobile filled up for a while last week after the Dives rolled past the sleepwalking Stars, but we smell another exodus brewing this morning. What the Ducks did to the Dives last night is illegal in many southern states. The league should be forced to issue an apology to those whose children may have witnessed it.

Just in from the Boo Hoo Department: The Dives and their media enablers are trying to blame Friday's 5-0 loss entirely on a hit that Andrew Brunette took, (which, now that they mention it, bore an eerie resemblance to a hit that Steve Moore once put on Marcus Naslund). In the wake of the Moore/Bertuzzi incident, the Avsmonkey Nation believes that any hit to their players should result in play being stopped, the game being awarded to the Avs, and the enemy player being sent to prison. Errr, waitaminute... they've always believed that. Never mind.

Strangely, only a few days ago the same Avalanche fans now whining about Brunette getting hit CHEERED AND CLAPPED LIKE RETARDED MONKEYS AFTER BRETT CLARK NEARLY DECAPITATED MIKE MODANO.

Other notes: Dan Hinote tripped over his feet and fell into the back of the net. It was funny. To his credit, Hinote laughed at himself. If it'd been any other player, the Avsmonkey Nation would've demanded that play to be stopped, the game be awarded to the Avs, and the net be sent to prison.

Our Call: The Ducks are an okay team, and they looked, well... okay on Friday. But they have no business being on the same ice as the mighty Colorado Avalanche. Colorado will win Game Two and coast to a 4-1 series victory on their way to a third Stanley Cup!

Get ready to party, Denver... Stanley is coming back to the Home of Ice Hockey!

48 Hours

This movie was 3 dollars on DVD at Wal-Mart. Movies have come a long ways since 1982. This movie really brings this point home. Its hard to enjoy this movie with all the plot holes and wierd people. It's almost enjoyable, but not quite. Nick Nolte is just creepy as the drunk mavorick cop who goes it alone. Eddie Murphy is a con with a golden heart who just wants to see justice done and get the money he stole fair and square. meh.

I went into this movie with pretty low expectations. and i was not disapointed. The action was good. the acting was woooden. the best part was when Simon Pegg had his two scenes. He's the best.

anyway philip seymore hoffman as the bad guy was kinda hard to believe. They never give any real motivation on why he's so evil he just is and it's kind of irraitating. He's just really evil and for no apparent reason, other than he sells weapons to the government.

Ving rhames is back which gives the series a thread of continuity since he's the only character other than tom cruises. The irish guy from Match Point was good but like simon pegg his part isn't quite long enough.

Tool - 10,000 Days

I have only listened to this once so far, but it seems much better than their last album which i didn't like at all.

The true star of this ablum though is the packageing it's a fucking steroscope. it's rad. it's worth the 9.99 at best buy just for that. i will listen to this album some more and hopefully it will grow on me.

Carolina Vs. New Jersey and round 2 discussion

This is a really good game. I have never really like the devils, and never really cared about carolina but the fact that i learned that carolina used to be hartford made me have alittle bit of a soft spot for them. and they are up 2-0 over the devils.

Now don't get me wrong i really love Martin Broduer as long as the canucks aren't playing against him, but carolina has heart and both teams are stacked with talent. The game is a great one.

Go Canes!

i think the east will be Ottawa - Carolina next round. and in the west i want to see the Battle of California.

San Jose is a better team than Edmonton. The sharks will detroy the oil. but it might take like six games.

Ok now for the big explaination. Anahiem.

To a canucks fan this will make sense (almost). Two words. Brian Burke.

Brian Burke took the helm of the ducks this year, got them a respectable jersey (the black one) traded out shitty fedorov. and got the neidermeyer brothers a great prospect goalie, and timmu fucking sellane who is back in fine form. Brian Burke put the team i love together, and he is making a team that was a piece of shit joke into a respectable team. Did you see the first game against colorado!!! any team that beast the divealance like a bitch makes me happy. fucking dives.

i hate colorado divealanche.

dives

so yeah.

in conclusion

My round 2 predictions.

Anahiem over Colorado in 5 games
San Jose over Edmonton in 6 games

Carolina over New Jersey in 7 games
Ottowa over Buffalo in 7 games (fantastic series too)
